On Thursday, the Minister of Health of Rwanda announced the end of the Marburg virus epidemic in the country, as no new cases of infection have been recorded.
"We are pleased to announce that Rwanda is free from the Marburg virus," said Health Minister Fidele Ngiramutsa, adding that the government has implemented all necessary measures to prevent the spread of the virus.
The outbreak of the Marburg virus was confirmed in Rwanda two months ago. However, thanks to the effective actions of authorities, they were able to prevent the spread of infections.
"We thank all healthcare workers who worked tirelessly to stop the spread of the virus," emphasized the minister.
He also urged all citizens of Rwanda to take necessary precautions to avoid a recurrence of the outbreak of the virus or other infections.
